JUNGLE SAFARI IN NEPAL

ROYAL CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK is an exciting and diverse wildlife haven, and to help you enjoy your stay at the lodge we are offering a package as diverse as the park itself. Chitwan National Park is located in 175 Kms souths west of Kathmandu. Its provides excellent opportunities to view rare species such as the sloth bear, bison, leopard and the elusive tiger. The common species such as deer, rhinoceros and wild boar are in abundance. A serene float down Rapti river in dugout canoe offer the chance to view many of the more than 450 species of exotic birds including Giant Hornbill, Lesser Florican and Paradise flycatcher.

The following under mention programme is designed in order to make your stay very enjoyable and exciting. We provide our trained naturalist/guides in all jungle tours. They are always at hand to help you understand the flora and fauna of the park. We hope you will enjoy your stay with us.

How to get there: By raft (scenic or white water): Departure from Kathmandu at 7.00 A.M. by car/coach for Mugling (confluence of Marshynagdi and Trisuli river) from where exciting rafting begins and floats down to a picnic spot for lunch along the river side. Continue your destination where our vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to Chitwan.

By surface: Departure from Kathmandu at 7.00 A.M by car/ coach for Chitwan National park on the Mugling-Narayanghat highway 175 kms for a scenic four hour drive.

By Air: by air service will be available from Kathmandu to Bharatpur as everyday. It takes about 20 min.

ITINERARY:

01 NIGHT / 02 DAYS
On your arrival at Chitrasari our staff will receive you. You will then be transferred to our Resort where you will be offered refreshment & be given a briefing on our resort & its facilities. After being briefed about your programme for the day, your room will then be allocated to you.

Day 01:
13.00 hrs. Lunch
1500 hrs. Briefing on elephant safari & bathing.
1600 hrs. Elephant safari (Approx. 2 hours)
1900 hrs. Tharu dance or culture show program
2000 hrs. Dinner

Day 02:
05.30 hrs. Wake up call
06.00 hrs. Tea/Coffee followed by nature walk
07.00 hrs. Bird watching
08.30 hrs. Breakfast
09.30 hrs. Departure

02 Night / 03 Days

Day 01:

08.30 hrs: Canoe ride along with Elephant breeding center

15.00 hrs: Visit to National Park visitor center (Information about the Park)
16.00 hrs: Village tour to a near by ethnic Tharu village by ox cart.
19.00 hrs: Slides presentation about the flora & fauna of the National Park
20.00 hrs: Dinner

All Jungle activities with services of our naturalist & nature guide for elephant briefing, bathing & safari, tharu culture dance presentation, National Park permit fee.

Canoeing will be offered from October until med March only.

Jungle drive will be offered from mid November until June only.

Recommended clothing:
A jacket or sweater from November through February. Lightest clothing with sunglasses and hats from April onwards. Pants should be worn during Elephant rides. No wallets etc. in the back pockets as they may fall out. Bright colours such as red and white should be avoided since these colours have been known to upsets the rhinos. Comfortable walking shoes are essentials. Please carry only the bare necessities but not jewellery and valuable things. During the warmer months swimming suits are recommended.

ACTIVITIES IN THE LODGE:

ELEPHANT SAFARI: Travel through open grassland and dense forest on elephant back in search of rare games. Be on the lookout for the great one homed rhino, four species of deer, wild boar, sloth bear, leopard, bison and the big one, the Royal Bengal tiger.

CANOEING: A traditional dugout takes you on a silent trip down the Rapti river to view birds., crocodile and the animals of the river of the river bank (From October through to mid March)

NATURE WALK: Out trained naturalists take you to prime spots to view deer, rhino, sloth bears and other wildlife. Detailed knowledge of the wildlife and jungle will enhance your tirp.

BIRD WATCHING: An early morning walk through the bush and along the Rapti river is a must to view many of the more than 450 species of exotic. Birds including the Giant Hombill. Lesser florican and Paradise Flycastcher. Again you will be accompanied by our experienced naturalist.
