GANGTEY GOGONA TREK

HIGHLIGHTS: This trek of Phopjikha valley at 3,000 m is one of the few glacial valley in Bhutan. It is chosen home of the rare Black Nacked Cranes which migrate here in winter from the Tibetan plateau. Gangtey is one of the most beautiful places and the Gangtey Gompa is the only Nyingmapa monastery on the western side of the black mountains. This moderate trek visits the villages of Gogona and Khotokha, passing through meadows field, forests of Juniper, magnolia and rhododendrons. Considered as one of the finest low level treks.

Itinerary:

Day 01:

Arrive Paro and re received by Loyal member. Transfer to hotel

Day 02:

Paro sightseeing. Overnight at hotel

Day 03:

Drive 5 hours to Gangtey via Punakha, Overnight at hotel

Day 04:

Trek begins from gangtey - Gogona 15 kms. 5/6 hours walk. Camp Alt. 2700m.

Day 05:

Gogona - Khotokha 16 kms. Climb over Shobju la pass 3600 m. Camp Alt 2800m.

Day 06:

Khotokha - Chazam 15 kms. 5/6 hrs. Climb over Mulaila pass 3000m. Trek ends & drive to Wangdiphodrang. O/N at lodge.

Day 07:

Drive to Paro via Thimphu. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08:

Departure for onward destination.
