HIGHLIGHTS:
This is basically a botanical trek. Spring is arguably
the most beautiful time of the year. At the height of spring
which is end of March, the whole valley comes to life with
flaming red, pink and white rhododendron blossom. In the monsoons
different varieties of mushroom can be found along the trail
including the Sangay (Mustakhay) mushroom which is exported
to Japan. The route takes you through Yak herders camps, villages,
monasteries and countless lakes. The snowcapped peaks can
be best viewed in winter.
Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive Paro. Overnight at hotel or Resort. Day 02: Paro sightseeing. Overnight Day 03: Drive to Thiphu & sightseeing. O/N Day 04: Thimphu - Geynikha. Drive 29 kms to commence
trek. 10 kms. 4/5 hrs. Camp. Day 05: Geynikha - Gur 5 kms. Uphill 4/5 hrs. Camp
Alt. 2800m. Day 06: Gur - Labatama 10 kms. 6/7 hrs. Camp Alt. 4300m. Day 07: Halt. Excursion around the camp. Day 08: Labatama - Panka. 10 kms. 4/5 hrs. Camp Alt.
4000m. Day 09: Panka - Talakha Goenpa. 14 kms. 6/7 hrs. Camp
Alt. 3100m. Day 10: Talkha Goenpa - Simtokha. 4 kms 2/3 hrs. Drive
to Paro 2 hrs. Overnight at hotel. Day 11: Transfer to airport for departure.
